AUTO & MOTO ARTISANS - AUSTRALIA
Supermotards are the ultimate short-hop hoon bikes and flat tracker styling just never gets old....so why not combine the two.
Sounds like a good plan...even better if you can come up with something that combines curb-hopping gravel road goods with tar tearing capabilities in a package that blends old school charm with a modernist aesthetic.
Base for the exercise is a 1995 Honda XR600R. Advantages are a good looking, unburstable air-cooled big single engine, steel frame (but alloy swingarm), minimal electrics, wide parts and motard accessory availability, and an overall architecture that can be readily adapted to more specialised use...plus it was one of three XRs sitting around the garage.
Early days yet, but the bare bones of the project are getting fleshed out nicely. Nothing much to see here, so move along folks...you need to visit the build blog.
